GD is auctioning an autographed Green Day photo with 100% of the proceeds to benefit Japan

Over the next few weeks we're going to be listing items on eBay to auction off to raise money to help with the recovery in Japan. 100% of the proceeds made from these auctions will go to benefit the American Red Cross and their disaster relief in the wake of the earthquakes and tsunami in Japan.



Green Day Tap Tap Revenge game now available in App Store
Now available in the Apple App Store is a Green Day centralized version of the popular iPhone app "Tap Tap Revenge." Tap Tap is much like Guitar Hero or Rock Band except it's made for the iPhone and/or iPod touch. It will have ten tracks from the band, including "Welcome to Paradise," a live version of "21 Guns," amongst others. The app is $4.99 in the US and can be purchased by clicking here.

Insomniac was released 15 years ago today

Fifteen years ago today, Green Day's fourth studio album 'Insomniac' was released. Insomniac followed up Green Day's major label debut, Dookie, and had big shoes to fill. The band released a darker, more angry album than Dookie was. Producer Rob Cavallo stated in the 2001 documentary 'Behind the Music' that the band wanted to prove to people that they were still a punk band. Critics didn't think that it was as good as 'Dookie' was but was still a good follow-up.

'Insomniac' to this day has sold over 8 million copies and is behind only 'Dookie' and 'American Idiot' in sales.

Four singles and videos were released from the album: Geek Stink Breath, Stuck with Me, Brain Stew/Jaded, and Walking Contradiction.

Video of Cigarettes and Valentines

As Matt mentioned in an earlier post, Green Day played Cigarettes and Valentines at last nights Denver show. The song was recorded for the upcoming live album.

Video of new Green Day song, "Olivia"

Right now is this the best quality we've seen of the video (even though it's only the last part of the song). This is another new song Green Day performed in Denver (here's the video for Cigarettes and Valentines). We don't have the "official" title of the song yet, but, people have been calling it "Olivia" since it was first heard during a sound check earlier this tour (possibly last year, my investigative skills are feeling a bit lackluster today). Anyways, enjoy this lovely acoustic song. We'll post a longer version when we get one. At this point we can only hope they include this song on the upcoming live album as well.

Jimmy Fallon dresses up as Billie Joe at the Emmy's

Jimmy Fallon is hosting the Emmy's tonight, and he opened up with a musical intro saying good bye to all the TV shows that were cancelled or finished this year. He started out playing the piano as Elton John, and ended up dressed as Billie Joe (black clothes, red tie, poofy hair), and "sang" Time Of Your Life.

Green Day performed in Toronto, Canada last night, and the reviews are coming in. Billie Joe sent out a tweet shortly after the show, saying

'Hello toronto. Another great show. Crowd kept getting louder and louder and louder. Highlight - falling down and eating shit hard! Smiley face'

New Song

Below is a video of Green Day doing their soundcheck at Marlay Park in Dublin earlier today. In the video they play a new song we haven't heard before. We don't have a title, but "Stay the Night" seems likely/appropriate. The song starts at about 30 seconds into the video, and it's really good.
